Training and Orientation
Werner Enterprises offers numerous opportunities for drivers to expand their career and earn more money, but before you can apply to become a company driver, you must first undergo CDL training and obtain your CDL license. The company also offers opportunities for new drivers through their Student Driver Program.
Company Driver Qualifications
To become a company driver, you must:
- Have recent experience
- Hold a valid (A) CDL
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Have a stable work history
- Meet all of the DOT requirements
- Pass a company physical
- Have a good driving record
- Be able to perform the tasks listed in the job description
Werner Enterprises also offers two benefits to signing onto their team:
- $2,500 sign on bonus for qualified hire. This perk only applies to certain Van/Dedicated accounts and is paid out over six months.
- $7,500 sign on bonus for 3M dedicated and Team Werner.
Student Driver Program
To qualify for Werner’s Student Driver Program, you must:
- Be 21 years of age or older
- Have a good driving record
- Have a stable work history
- Meet all of the DOT requirements
- Pass a DOT physical
- Have a valid Class A CDL license
- Have completed an approved truck driving school program
Students who are accepted into the program will complete at least 275 driving hours during their training period. Each student will be paid $400 per week for the first 275 hours.
Drivers who are hired by Werner Enterprises can also enjoy paid orientation. During orientation, an onsite instructor will lead new drivers through a variety of courses that offer hands-on, computer-based and classroom learning opportunities. During this time, new drivers will learn about the company’s policies, their benefits program and the federal regulations they will be expected to follow.
